Bowstring Advisors (“Bowstring”), a division of Citizens Capital Markets, announced today that the Atlanta Chapter of The Association for Corporate Growth® (“ACG”), a global professional organization with the mission of Driving Middle-Market Growth®, is recognizing Jim Childs, Managing Partner and CEO at Bowstring, as Dealmaker of the Year.
Jim is the founder and CEO of Bowstring Advisors, a middle-market mergers and acquisitions advisory firm founded in 2009. Bowstring was named as the Boutique Investment Bank of the Year in 2016 by The M&A Advisor and was acquired in March 2019 by Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (“Citizens”). As part of the acquisition, Jim was named Co-Head of M&A for Citizens and helps lead a practice of more than 70 M&A professionals.
Melanie Brandt, President and CEO of ACG Atlanta said, “The winners of our 2019 Deals of the Year Awards achieved the highest performance and deal execution standards, representing the best of the highly qualified nominees this year. Jim is no exception. The growth and impact of Bowstring on the Atlanta community and beyond is impressive.”
The ACG Atlanta Deals of the Year committee panel consists of a wide variety of ACG member executives that comprise the local deals community. Nominations were considered based on the following criteria: economic development impact, complexity, involvement of strategic Atlanta business sectors, products or services with potential for significant local and global impact, and involvement of Atlanta investors, executives, and serial entrepreneurs.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award from ACG,” said Jim. “Since I started the firm in 2009, it has been an exciting journey from launch to now being a part of the Citizens platform. We are now a top 15 player in middle-market M&A as part of the Citizens team. I hope that we can be a top 5 or 10 player in the coming years.”
Citizens’ acquisition of Bowstring Advisors further strengthened its advisory capabilities and continued its expansion into the Southeast region. In December 2016, Citizens hired Brian Peters, a 25-year banking industry veteran and former managing director at SunTrust, as regional executive and head of the Southeast.
ACG Atlanta will present awards to winners on November 21st at a celebration at the Atlanta History Center. Use the special discount code of 19DOTY (case-sensitive) to register for the event in support of Jim.
